Re: October B52 deployment

Goldstar31 could be pretty close with his prediction.
The official detachment photograph has just recently been released . It is on a Fairford facebook page. These tend to be taken towards the end of a deployment .Hope I’m wrong but just have to wait and see.

Re: B52

Wonder if the initial flight will be to Fairford for final inspection before going home ?
Gets it out of Mildenhalls way and they have plenty of space there, as well as B52 equipment and at the moment additional B52 ground crew .

Limited flying September ?

Wondering if financial/ fuel restrictions at the end of Sept. will reduce flying at Lakenheath ? I think they are already monitoring fuel use as I overheard two F15’s this morning commenting on fuel use in their manoeuvres. Basically the “senior “pilot told the “trainee” pilot not to worry about the...

F35 flying on return from Akrotiri

Looking at a possible timeline for the F35 to return to “normal “ flying at Marham after its return from Akrotiri. Based on the assumption they return last week June/ first week July. Allow 2 weeks R&R for returning personnel, A further couple of weeks getting airframes back to normal, So that looks...

It has been said in an earlier message that they were due to take part in the D-Day flypast . If that is true a few may be staying for a little longer.

Operation El Dorado Canyon 1986

With all the recent comings and goings at Lakenheath the anniversary of this event seems to have been overlooked . I remember being at Mildenhall on the Saturday, wondering where all the tankers had come from. We could hear the F111’s at Lakenheath having engines run, any action at Lakenheath on a S...

Fairford diversions ?

In the event of Fairfords runway being closed due to a ground incident, for example,if the first of four returning B52s blocked the runway due to a blown tyre or undercarriage problems, where would the remaining three aircraft divert to ?. At the moment Mildenhall can accept B52 diversions but,as th...
