Re: Flashes at the Royal Flush 1970

Great Arnold. Brings back memories of going to Deelen AFB on my bike (55 KM one way) to see all these beauties. Also went here with the Late John Lekkerkerker on his Kreidler moped. I remember we had a Danish T-33A as a visitor. On the departure day the Danish RF-84F’s camera compartments where load...

Re: Your first ever military spotting trip, where, when etc?

My first trip was to Soesterberg AB in 1966. As I live close by the base, I went more often and was hooked on the hobby. Took my first picture in June 1967 of a grey Dutch F-104G, and many, many more followed over 50 years’ time. Things to see: F-102's 32 FIS and Hunters 325 sqd R. Neth AF and many ...

They kept the MIG-29, and gave away some types, e.g. MI-24. Some transports/helicopters stayed in use till the mid '90s. And the rest was put in storage and latter wrecked.

Photo towers Hyakuri info?

I heard some rumors that the (photo) towers at Hyakuri, Japan are not managed by the old lady anymore. It seems access can be gained now via some local spotters. Some more info anyone?

Thanks,

Zhukovsky MosAero 1992

Not hindered by any knowledge of the new Russia we went to Zhukovsky in august 1992 for the Mosaeroshow ‘92, the forerunner of the latter MAKS shows. As it was the first show ever at this base it was a real eye-opener. As a bonus we received wrong passes, which gave us also entry to the operational ...

The red roofed building in is a big house. The last few years of the base it was almost hidden by trees.

It was on base next to the wing HQ building.
In the mid seventies I was in the R.Neth.AF and it was quite easy for me to get on bases for photographs.

A stunning set of images  Was the shot of FX78 taken at RAF Binbrook in 1977 or 1978? Seem to recall having the same shot, but my memory may be failing me. Thanks for posting and I look forward to seeing more. Andy Andy, F-104 was indeed photographed at RAF Binbrook in 1977 as I recal. Regard...
