Re: Wattisham viewing

I only visit two or three times a year and I only live 30-40 miles away - should go more often It is well worth a visit as there are usually 4 -6 Apaches flying during the day. Viewing is ok - I like sitting at the Eastern end of the runway if they are landing that way although I think most people p...

Re: NATO Summit, London 3rd-4th December 19

There is no need to stop the movements - what do they think is going to happen - someone jumping out of an airliner onto the ramp?

They don't shut the airport for the Queen do they and she is more important.

Re: Trump visit

Fair enough

Not bothered about Mildenhall as I have seen them but I was thinking the runway at Northolt would be short for a full load back to Quantico?

Re: NATO Summit, London 3rd-4th December 19

Is this an overreaction by Stansted or the 'Law'? Emirates 67 going to Gatwick after 30 minutes. One Ryanair is saying they will land at Luton and return empty to Stansted :) I am outraged - I feel a letter coming on! RYR 2469 going to EMA RYR 8777 to EMA 17:31 AF1 has lined up but controller still ...

Re: NATO Summit, London 3rd-4th December 19

17:05 Stansted arrivals on hold for an indeterminate time Some Ryanair flights are already talking about diverting - its outrageous. Why does an airport come to a complete stand still just for POTUS it doesn't happen for anyone else? Having said that some RYR flights are entering the hold with only ...

Re: Trump visit

Wonder if the VH-60 will be loaded back onto C-17 at Northolt or perhaps elsewhere ( Mildenhall?) given the extra load and fuel uplift although of course the C-17 has prodigious performance?

Very interesting set

I used to see the same happening at Odiham but with nothing like the access you have in these shots.

Re: Lakenheath 2 December : Eagles old and new

I was in the forest entrance using a D7200 with a 200mm F/2.8 effectively a 300mm shooting jpeg I usually go over the stile into the field but I didn't bother yesterday - maybe because I thought 300mm would be enough and the eagles on delivery don't exactly have many markings to try and pic out Look...

Re: When 8 screws were better than 4 blow-jobs

Fantastic post , one of your best

I didn't see that many shacks but I do remember seeing my first one flying operationally from RAF Honington. It looked from a bygone age even in the 70s but a great sound track.
