Golden era of RAF open days. Great set reminding me of how good all the station open days were up to mid / late 80s.

Great set. If I had a time machine older St Mawgan shows would always be on the revisit list.

Re: Canon R7 focusing

Just bumping this to the top to see what peoples experiences with the R7 focus systems are. As a previous 7dmk2 1d 90d user etc have found it really difficult to aclimatise to the R7. Still unconvinced on AF set ups for aircraft, have tried all sorts with varying results. Im not just talking trackin...

Re: Monopods

Without wishing to state the obvious, it may well not be obvious to everyone, better if used on a lens with a collar and tripod socket on the lens collar. Have seen some people use them directly fitted to the base of camera bodies and they don't really do whats designed of them. On the lens it provi...

Re: JAKE 11 RC-135W option to tower !!!

I was In Johns field at the time, not a regular in recent years, but that was the latest rotation I've ever seen there over all my years of visits. At one point seriously thought I was going to witness the first RC135 heading to Cambridge by road.

Re: RAF Leuchars Air Display 1975 Programme

Thanks for posting, love the old show programmes, great line up. Entries often understated back then as well, as a reference to a Sqn fly by would often be multiple aircraft. Back in the days when any squadron given the go ahead could fly a display or formation

Re: Drones at the Heath

I wonder if the newspaper headline is a bit misleading, the exercise is a test of counter-small unmanned aerial systems, so surely this means defence systems against things like small drones such as a Gatwick. I wouldnt have thought a reaper or watchman would be classed as a small unmanned aerial sy...

Re: RIAT 2007 a nostalgic look back

A one off mod for extended range tanks I believe, for possible or actual Special Forces use to extend range. Seem to remember that there were possibly several going to be modified but it never happened, not fact but also seem to remember rumours of similar sponsons being built and ready for install.

Re: 1982 Middle Wallop

Great set, remember that show well, just wished I'd had a proper camera in the day rather than a 110 instamatic.
Types that at one time seemed a little common soon slipped by, Do28, Belgium Islander, Super Frelon etc.
Thanks for scanning.
