Indian Historic Flight Dakota

Post by roger4 » Sun Apr 01, 2018 7:08 pm

According to Reflight Airwork's Facebook pages (https://www.facebook.com/RAFBenson/post ... 7062891128) they plan to bring the Indian Historic Flight Dakota "VP905" (c/n 32820, ex G-AMSV/KN397) to Benson either Wednesday or Thursday this week, from Coventry on a test flight.

Both the Reflight and RAF Benson Facebook pages suggest the aircraft has been in at least once, or perhaps twice, last month, although I haven't seen sight nor sound of it, nor indeed has it been logged by my ASDB system.....

I've seen it a couple of times over Northampton in the last 2 weeks but it didn't show up on the box.

Thanks GT3ZZZ.

Odd that is is not been using even a Mode-S transponder, given its impending long distance delivery flight.

I will have to go back to spotting old-school this week - Mark 1 eyeballs and ears!

That's how I saw it, was making a lot of noise flying very low! It was returning from a low pass at Cranfield the first time I saw it

On the deck at 14:40 (local), using "VP905" as the radio call-sign.

VP905 is still at Benson, having been hangared since its arrival last week and having been formally handed over to India on Thursday this week.

However Reflight posted to FB last night that they hope to fly out at about 13:00 today https://www.facebook.com/reflight/?hc_location=ufi. Have read elsewhere that it is due back at Coventry to load up with spares before heading off to India.

What a beauty.
I do hope that she overflows Northampton. If I draw a line between Coventry and India, then I have a good chance!

A bath overflows, a Dakota overflies! ;)
I do like your logic on the straight line navigation though, extreme optimism? Good Luck.

If I were a betting man, I'd say it'll route south and via Belgium.

Damn predictive text.
I'm still waiting in my garden for the over fly. (I need to get the spuds in and mow the lawn.)
And don't anybody suggest that she's going for the loop.

Hi
Said Dakota passed Didcot about 45minutes ago heading south and has been noted on ADS B as having routed via Basingstoke and Bognor and is now approx. mid channel about 3600 ft. Hope this is of interest.
