I note the ad speaks about the first Joint Warrior of 2018. Is there not only one this year?

Also there are some shocking grammatical and spelling errors!

The organisers also talk about getting fairly unrestricted access to one of the UK's busiest operating bases. I wonder where that is. Certainly doesn't sound like Lossie!

Colin, if you look at the logs posted by the lads up there, you'll see there are some days where the number of movements are pretty dire, or non existent. Sadly the days of going up for JW and having the back up of plenty of movements from based aircraft are gone.

Maybe organizer Neil Cave ( neil_cave@btinternet.com ) can answer any questions.

If you do, you could phone the coastguard and say you saw a submarine periscope offshore. That would increase the level of activity at Lossie. :halo:

I really advise you to check the logs, its been terrible this year, on some days only about 5 or 6 movements a day and on some days less than that. Hardly any visitors to note, no PDs at all even though we hear F15s at Tain. Some days the most exciting event is the Eastern Jetstream 41 Taxi.

Any idea what the reason/s is/are behind the severe lack of activity at Lossie, I take it that most of the the Typhoon training is sim based but surely that alone can’t explain the dire state of affairs.

It wasn’t that long ago when the resident Tornado Squadrons would have half a dozen jets up before 0830 followed by a steady flow until late evening.

I made the mistake of going up one day last week and saw only 3 Typhoons all
day ! One of those was being towed between hangars. :(

Good news, if you do decide to pop along and there's no aircraft to spot you can now watch HFBC (Highland fenceing) erecting barriers and fencing, work started 5/4/18 at the crash gate at the top of the single track on the North side of the camp, beside the horses field, maybe someone could start a log for heavy plant etc

That's a very good idea. I don't suppose after travelling half the country and being so disappointed they'll need
something to do ? Saying that I'm sure one of the locals that goes every day for some reason would enlighten us
why ??

There was a planning application in local paper about using crash gate 8 as main access for the major airfield works coming up, along with widening farm track for two-way traffic. I assume that's the aforementioned crash gate.

Noticed a Tweet from Paul Godfrey that the BAE systemspic T.T.F. (Typhoon Training Facility) at Lossie is complete. This confirms what has already been said earlier on the significant decline in activity here.

Just need the simulator for the P-8 to be up and running and soon we will see nothing
