Do you know if ZR408 has underwing 1000lit ferry tanks fitted yet? Thought it was now operating off MTA from 5 hangar. It last flew on monday this week but late afternoon (T69). Im sure he parked on MTA could be wrong ....
Cheers
Thank you both for the info. I wonder if anyone can help me with a few queries?TombsRIP wrote:Very useful log Christian but if I can add a few things .
Be200GT ZK459/X was in special poppy c/scheme unfortunately o/shoot too high at 1339z.
ZK938/IPA6 was flown by Rebel 58 (again). Recovered initials 25 1519z and land 1521z.
Tornado ZE119 is ex RSAF 760 (CS006). It was orig built as BS163 but diverted. It first flew 3/2/86 & orig delivered 24/2/87. I think it's referred to as "TINST (trial instln) B" jet under the "TS3" programme Note the Tornado Sustainability Programme (TSP) involved CS026, CS(R)037 & CT017. CS006 returned to Warton on 3/4/14 (1904L) having routed Dhahran-Tabuk-Iraklion-Gioia del Colle to Warton over 2 days.
ZK426 (BS142) obviously another ex short term stored jet being lined up for delivery [along with ZK424 (BS140) which flew an airtest o)n 5/2]. Like ZK424, ZK426 was showing correct hex code (BS140=43C7A1; BS142=43C7A3) but an incorrect serial "ZK381" on a number of ModeS sites. WTN09 reported a red FCS2 warning with poss landing gear failure ("weight on wheels") but had 3 greens indicated. It flew through overhead 3 times before landing at 1538z as mentioned but didnt need to take RHAG so presumably no nosewheel steering failure was diagnosed. Think he used aero braking and didnt stream the breakchute. Cheers MG
Yes, supposedly, just hasn't flown very much since it was fitted with new E-Scan Captor E radar. If I recall it made an appearance at Farnborough a couple of years ago allegedly with a fully working E-Scan radar. Maybe fitted with a smoke & mirrors pod as well! Guess they do alot of ground testing as well hence the dirth of IPA5 sorties recently.tm74sqn wrote:Isn't ZJ700 a test aircraft for the new radar - E-Scan radar (Captor E)?

(1) Yes they are darker but don't know the FS codes for the paint colours to compare. See some of my jpegs on UK Serials in different lighting conditions;tm74sqn wrote:TombsRIP wrote: Thank you both for the info. I wonder if anyone can help me with a few queries?
(1) I've seen one or two of the Omani Typhoons, but never next to a RAF one in the same light conditions, and am trying to decide whether the grey is the same for both air forces. My impression is that the Omani grey is slightly darker than the RAF grey, but am I right?
(2) Were the temporary store Typhoons ZK424, 425, 426, 427 painted grey before they were stored? If not, any idea when they were painted? Or when last seen in primer?
Regards, TM74
Trawling through my logs IPA5 did a flurry of sorties in Jan 17. I expect twin seat "EF2000(T)" 98+08 (GT026/IPA8) has flown quite a few sorties from Manching since its F/F 12/9/16, in support of Captor-E development as of course, the 28 ac Kuwaiti order will be assembled and flown from Caselle unfortunately. Would be nice to see IPA8 visiting Warton as some stage! More wishful thinking... Cheers MGchrisward123 wrote: Thanks Martin for adding to the logs, very interesting.
Looks like IPA5/ZJ700 last flew in 2016... https://www.eurofighter.com/news-and-ev ... yphoon-jet
I expect we will see her flying more often during the build up to testing/certifying E-SCAN for the Kuwait contract.
Correct Mike, you are on the ball today. Sometimes I have senior moments....cant be right all the time unfortunately :-) Not at Warton anyhowTARGET wrote:I was under the impression the Kuwaiti aircraft are being assembled in Italy
