I think last year it went to Brize and had the Chinook in. Maybe it will bring bits/personnel for the F-18s...Not sureDAVEBRAD wrote:hi,

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2018 Discussion Thread
Guessing that a CC-150 Polaris would tank them over aswell? No real need for a C-17 to bring supplies aswell.

It's was a great update, for so early in the year
Lots of patches Would be nice if they brought over something like a CH-148 Cyclone after the CH-147F last year. Even if they don't it's was a great updateDAVEBRAD wrote:hi,

The Canadian Chinook also paid a low level visit to my local area in South Wales whilst it was here, a nice surprise.

Today's update 1/2/2018
The Great War Display Team will demonstrate aerial combat from the First World War; a vital component in the story of RAF100. The exact number of the team's aircraft that will take part is yet to be confirmed and we will update to reflect this once we have the information.

Isn't the crosswind limit on those things something like 5 knots?
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2018 Discussion Thread
It'll take em an hour to get from one end of the runway to the other. Should be just about enough time to use the loo and get a couple of bevvies down me. Result!!

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2018 Discussion Thread
Does anyone know if there are plans to park some of the flying display items south side as they did in 2016? It would be excellent to have a chance to see the Canadian Hornet up close between flying demos.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2018 Discussion Thread
I saw the The Great War Display Team at Old Sarum really atmospheric display at a WWI airfield. I think it is really nice to have something a bit different from loud fast grey jets. It will give us who are not complete anoraks something different to watch and hopefully photograph.

Anorak is slightly pejorative I would say

Anorack is term the media use often, I’m not sure if that’s slightly insulting or not
Surely being a member of fighter control puts yourself in the anorack category?
I feel for the Great War team. Usually displaying at much smaller airfields astheir routine is quite confined. I’m not sure if they’ll even see both ends of the display line

The way the “outsiders” look at it is if you like aircraft and you go to airshows and airfields to watch them...you’re an anorack. I don’t see things like that personally.Johno wrote:I love fast jets, I hope this doesn't make me an anorak I never even bother to look at a a serial number

Anorak (no c) refers to anyone who has an obsession with a particular hobby, usually by those with little or no understanding or appreciation for that hobby.
My wife calls me an anorak at times - doesn't bother me.
