Arty Tornado's
Some sexy looking Tonka's from over the years, the Tornado along with the Mirage 2000 remains my favorite fast jet,saw my first flying one back on 15 Sep 1980, ZA320 doing an approach at Coltishall.

Beautiful artwork throughout.
Ye Gods, if MoD had a budget and we employed some German Artists, we may have something to be proud of.

Re: Arty Tornado's
Great selection but could have done with a few more F3s in there as there were some nice schemes e.g. 23 Sqn. 75th. Ann. job with red /blue fin altho' that Italian Tiger job was the most ambitious ever seen on an F3. Glad I don't live in E.Anglia!
Re: Arty Tornado's
Not wanting to hi - jack yr. thread John, which is a great idea but would like to add two of Leeming's best efforts from 23 + XXV Sqns in '90 + '91 respectively.

Just to prove that we did have some to be proud of here are what I consider the two most spectacular F3 schemes.reheat module wrote:Beautiful artwork throughout.

Yes very nice, but would still say the GAF at the edge with their schemes.

Re: Arty Tornado's
Granted the Germans are more arty - but expect they had a bigger paint budget! As an example of how the RAF paint budget has shrunk even further it does nt even run to applying Sqn. badges now!jpickers56 wrote:Yes very nice, but would still say the GAF at the edge with their schemes.

Re: Arty Tornado's
Great Pics! , I doubt if the RAF, as such, do any painting any more, its probably contracted out, more is the shame. Still German and Italian schemes are well worth it as your pics show!
