Royal International Air Tattoo 2018- Discussion Thread

Post by MRTT » Fri Oct 13, 2017 4:41 pm

Thought I'd get the thread started, first announcement now posted on the RIAT website, confirming participation of the Reds & F-35B.
RAF100 at the 2018 Air Tattoo
The 2018 Air Tattoo will be a different event to that which you know - as we come together to celebrate one hundred years of the Royal Air Force!

RAF100 at the Air Tattoo, a special one off event, will include a flying display from the world famous Red Arrows and the RAFs newest F-35B Lightning! Friday will be a day not to miss in 2018. This special, full show day, will include a mass RAF flypast, a Royal Review of aircraft plus a lot more!

With FREE entry for accompanied under-18s and FREE parking for ticket holders, the Air Tattoo always offers great value for money day out.

Due to the scale of the 2018 Air Tattoo and us needing to find more space for static aircraft, you may be parked on or off base on either grass or concrete, so please bare this in mind.

Park and View will be open on Tuesday, priced at £10. :thumb:

Be interesting to know whether or not FRIAT passes will be valid.

So that nobody is confused P&V will be available on Tuesday 10th July, i.e. before the show at £10.

£10 Just to watch a couple of arrivals ,Looks like RIAT are trying even more ways to rip off us enthusiasts .No change there then.

Yes, but they could be the most exciting of all the arrivals! If so, well worth the money!
Here's hoping, TM74

Don't forget that the show is a 3-day event next year, with a full show day on the Friday. That means arrivals should be brought forward a day too as everything needs to be in, parked & coned by the end of the day on the Thursday - there's no option to rope off the west end of the showground and build the static there on the Friday morning whilst the eastern end is open to the public.

Disappointed, renewed Mach3 for 2018 and then DBH announce 'oh that doesn't actually include all the event days'. Very suspicious manoeuvre, why wasn't this disclosed from July when the tickets went on sale? They knew they were going to be running a three-day show so arrivals would have to be adjusted but conveniently omitted to mention this.

I've already paid their 4.5% price increase for 2018 compared to CPI at 2.6% and now they're chancing for another tenner?

Certainly interesting things may arrive on the Tuesday but on principle I'm not stumping-up more cash to see them. I wouldn't pay an eBay seller who tried a shifty move like that* and I won't pay DBH.

So, tell me about watching from the P&V car parks...

* sorry guv, the glove only comes with four fingers! Had to use extra fabric in the palm instead. Want to buy the fifth finger separately?

Didn't you renew your Mach 3 at the show? There was no price increase that way from memory still pretty sure it was £210.
Posh are going to Wembley (albeit for a tin cup)

Correct Gary, the price was £210 if you renewed at the show

Back in 2003 Park and View was also open on the Tuesday (and was included within the FRIAT package  ) and there was certainly a decent number of aircraft arriving.

Quite agree, this is very naughty of them. I don't really mind paying the extra tenner, it's the cost of another night's accommodation (if you can get it!).
