Norwegian SAR Helicopter

Post by Bobbster » Sat Oct 14, 2017 9:50 am

A visit to Cornwall Newquay Airport and I managed to get some images of the AW101 Norwegian All Weather Search and Rescue Helicopter (s) NAWSARH. This is the most advanced SAR capable helicopter in the world today. The crews from 330 squadron at at Cornwall Newquay airport training/familiarising themselves with the aircraft. The aircraft are fitted out with Osprey radar given aircrew a 360 degree field of view, three engines, a gearbox capable of dry running for 30 minutes , rear loading ramp, large cabin with standing room, two rescue hoists, all weather capability, mobile phone detection, dual redundancy integrated mission/avionic systems, automatic flying control system and two systems to detect wires/obstacles etc. Had to wait around six hours to get the pictures but was worth it to see this new SAR Variant.

Cracking shots there Bob ! Well worth the wait. Was this a hit & hope session or did you have '007 special clearance' details? ;) :ninja:

Great pictures, and you are deserving of an award for patience and commitment after spending 6 hours waiting at Newquay Airport

Stunning shots and great paintjob in usual Norwegian SAR livery.
Just hope these stage through Humberside again when they eventually take them home. First aircraft came through when visiting Norway for an event back in late summer.
