Same thing happened to one of the jets last year, seems a common occurrence...

Edit - photos do show what looks to be a technical malfunction. When the 95 FS deployed last year they did on occasions open the side weapons bay to display the AIM9X on take off and landing for the benefit of those outside the fence.

Pilot of last year's confirmed it wasn't showboating and was indeed a technical hitch

Presumably the bay doors jammed open would render them 'unstealthy' Seems like quite a glitch.
Not sure in all the radio traffic this morning when they were coming back in but might have been reported as a Code 1 by the pilot?

Think it was something like that that happened to the F117A that got shot down in Yugoslavia was it not?

That was how they manged to track it due to the Bomb bay doors stuck open?

Nice shot. Looking forward to a trip there soon - fingers crossed the weather for early next week holds.

What were they up to today - just familiarisation flights?

my log of yesterday's happenings, with callsigns and times where known. plenty of other people at the viewing area/forest gate so I am sure there will be some additions or corrections :D . Some of the callsigns were a little indistinct.....

I always struggle with the HH-60s because the last digit on port side overlaps a stiffener on the tail and therefore is difficult to read. Definitely were two up and others have confirmed 89-26206 and 89-26353

F-15C/D/E 'LN' unless noted otherwise. 'a' = arrival back into the pattern. All times local.
