Boscombe Down Wed 4th Oct, Fabulous aircraft!!
I spent a few hours at Boscombe Down, yes this usually requires a certain amount of patience, but on this occasion, it was none stop action and just to end the day Hawk XX154 made a safe emergency landing. Have to say, I had never before seen the deployment of the Hawks emergency generator, last two pics!

Nice to see a post from here, a rarity these days, and you picked a good day for it. Some interesting aircraft captured there.

Great catch on those aircraft, some brilliant photos from Boscombe.

I'm sure that without the proposed major maintenance hub the airfield's days would be numbered?

Sadly, its flown its last trip. Next 'flight' will be on a low loader.Thunderbolt II wrote:Nice work- good to see pics from Boscombe. I've been trying to get a pic of the darn ripple Hawk for an age! One day, hopefully. Thanks for posting.
Aviation, breath it in your lungs will stain.

Nice catch fisherman. It was XX154 which made the Hawk's maiden flight all those yrs ago. Last time I saw it in the Waddo static it was in raspberry ripple so has obviously had a respray since then.

XX154 has been wearing that scheme for at least four years and went black a good while before that. Sad to hear about XX342, I believe its the last in service aircraft wearing raspberry ripple.
All very nicely caught , intrigued as to the striping on the Alpha Jet's tailplanes and the symbol on top?

Lovely photos!
But as Capercaillie also asked, when did ZJ646 get those fancy tail markings? They don't seem to be on the underside. Does it have similar markings on the starboard side?
I only ask, as I feel a modelling project coming on....
