JW17-2 Lossie Arrivals & Support

Post by onemac » Sun Oct 01, 2017 5:05 pm

Spent a pleasant while down at the fence on Friday morning. I'm sure Niall will be along shortly with a global announcement on the exercise (and that of Formidable Shield) to include his usual updates on participants and support but in the meantime here's what has arrived so far:

1. Atlantique 2, 5

2. Taxi.

3. Support - Casa, CN-235, 111

4. Head-on.

5. Turning off.

6. Heading home.

7. P-3C Orion Royal Norwegian Air Force, 3296.

8. Backtrack.

9. The Norwegians announce their arrival.

10. Still waving the flag.

11. Norwegian support - C-130J Hercules II (apparently).

12. P-8A, 168763 headed off early down to Mildenhall for some circuits.

13. And, in what seems to be becoming the norm, his door did not appear to be locked.

14. He returned in some stunning light though.

15. There was some frantic tugging going on as he was slotted back in but here's the lineup.

Thanks for looking. No doubt there will be more pics in the next few weeks but I shall leave it to others to post :)

The yellow bar should be horizontal but I've been advised that this is a common occurence, the door is actually locked and not to worry about it. My OCD doesn't like it though - I fly in the civvy version of those.......

I think you may find that its standard practise at that stage that the door is "un-armed" i.e. not locked in case of a fast exit being required.

The door pins are in and locked, its just the handle on the exterior thats not in its correct position.... no real problem, though in the civvy world this is usually noticed and pointed out to the crew.

Im more inclined to say they have broken the handle! Would hope they lock the door from the inside prior to taxi.

Cracking set as usual Al.
