Yes, thanks lads. It's been a good few weeks "observing" from a distance, something different. I have the greatest respect for USN and its assets.
Also, thanks to all on FC in sharing information so we can all enjoy our hobby.

Ta

Sorry , another question - I probably should know this but do the greyhounds stay with the carrier back to Norfolk or do they make their own way back via Kef etc as they are not strictly part of CVW-8 ?

More than likely they will stay with the carrier for the trip back home just in case the boat gets diverted or has a medvac situation. They will leave the carrier when they get to about 1000miles from the US coast along with the rest of the air wing. In the past they used to rotate airframes through Sigonella (or Naples) where they had a semi permanent detachment and they would meet up with whatever carrier as it approached the Mediterranean or South West approaches, they would then stay with the carrier or closest friendly land facility.

Regards the pics, not often you get a topside shot of a C2

They will remain on the carrier and they are in fact a part of CVW-8.

'Bushwhackers' is the nickname for the Detachment of this cruise, Det II, VRC-40 Rawhides.

Always awesome crews the Rawhides :thumb:

Very nice! a great departure, an unusual visitor, and colourful aircraft! Despite a week of visiting MH, I only got one set of one C-2 airborne, so no jealousy here then!
