CF Card file recovery

Post by Doughnut » Mon Aug 07, 2017 8:49 pm

Sorry if this question has been answered before.
My father has just tried to download his CF Card (Kingston 4Gb) and it says "image can not be found - please format card"
Luckily dad has not reformated the card and I have run a "free" recovery program, found the images, but now it want $35.99 to save them.
Anybody know of genuinely free to download software for image recovery ?
Thanks for any advice.
Paul

Depending on how much you need to recover (you said 4gig card but not if all of it). I have use EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free to recover a few files. It seems to be 2GB limit for the free version so may or may not be of use to you. I don't think many, if any, providers will give unlimited but you never know. Hope it all works out and you can recover our father's files.

I have a Sandisk Rescue Pro program. It was a free mini disc when i bought a memory card (from memory!) many years ago - and have used it when stuck. Only thing is i need a proper card reader - rather than just doing it via the camera - but that didn't cost much from Argos.

So i imagine they most do a download online - but whether there's any restrictions....?

I have used Recuva on a 8G SD card that I accidentally formatted before I saved the pics! (and I needed the pics, they showed damage to my car after a collision).

I used the free version, can't remember if there were any restrictions, I recovered 24 .jpg and .rw2 files (cam was my Lumix TZ70).

On a similar topic, I have unintentionally deleted my photo's off my memory card. Can they be retrieved and how?

Camera is a Canon SLR and a sandisk CF memory card.

I think Recuva works with CF cards too. Check the link to Piriform above.
