These F18's must be talking to someone, can't imagine them being allowed to fly about Scotland on secure comms? I do admit I know very little in A2A or A2G comms so willing to be told otherwise.

If they're outside controlled airspace they don't need to speak to anyone.

If they are low level (below 2,000ft) they should make blind calls and be monitoring 278.0. Low level common.

Apologies if old info

Three F/A- 18 did a Lossie flypast according to this link :

https://mobile.twitter.com/SquadronPrints

Codes reported as AJ-205, 207 and 213?

Also there is a video on planesonthenet of two hornets doing a flypast of the new British carrier.

Nice to see Lossiemouth got the only F/A-18 that wasn't visible when the carrier was in Stokes Bay!

We were walking up the old Rlwy path on the East Bank of Loch Linnhe (near Linnhe Marina) on Sat at approx 1735 when 2x F18's flew by at low level and carried on N/E at low level up Loch Linnhe .I guess they had been having a shufti at Castle Stalker : )

edit - to correct time LOL

My young lady actually managed a quick snap as the flew up Loch Linnhe - they are just passing the far side of Shuna Island near Linnhe Marina -

Had another two heading down your way just after 2100, there was more flying about but couldn't see them to tell what way they were heading.
