Kendrew - upcoming exercise?

Post by f-4 » Thu Mar 16, 2017 2:45 am

Local rumours of an RAF exercise happening soon at former RAF Cottesmore - anyone know more? Wondering if it's another mobile ATC exercise, maybe this time with real aeroplanes!

What are the rumours? Heard runway is still in good nick and should take anything but FJs due to FOD issues.

HIRTA (High Intensity Radio Transmission Area) - so best to avoid if you have a heart pacemaker! Seriously, though, sounds like it could be an ATC exercise.

RAF Wittering deployed to Kendrew today for Exercise Una Triangle to set up a deployed operating base for aircraft. It seems that it's mostly a ground exercise but hopefully there may be a movement or two. Fingers crossed...

Thursday 1520-ish

Adsb showed a Hawk at 200' in the immediate area. Callsign Pirate?? It disappeared off the plot in a short time so not conclusive.

Anything further in terms of potential from anyone?
I do miss my time in the RAF, but every month it reminds me how great it was with a lovely big cheque
I used to hate maths, but then realised that decimals do indeed have a point...
