Nato Naval exercise Dynamic Mongoose

Post by Monster 76 Hunter » Tue Jun 27, 2017 1:16 pm

Hi Guys,
this is my first post, I'm sorry if its in the wrong place,I've just flown to Iceland for a break, On landing I noted a few a few aircraft.... so a lot of walking/driving cursing I manage to ID a few, the local tell me it's a big exercise, a google search reveals Dynamic Mongoose.....
Noted Keflavik 26/06/17
168762 P-8 USN
https://www.flickr.com/photos/by_the_mo ... otostream/
24 Atlantique
https://www.flickr.com/photos/by_the_mo ... otostream/
..........P-3 USN
.......... P-3 USN
.......... P-3 German Navy
.......... P-3 possibly Canadian
Answers on a postcode for the above four, I have no decent optics at hand, all back in the UK
177702 C-17
the P-3s have buzzed my little house twice today but I cannot get outside quick enough to shoot them...
also noted two C12's, not sure if they are linked or just transiting through..
84-0488 C-12
84-4380 C-12
Hope this is on..

Hi H

It may be worth noting that hex code C2B1C5 was picked up in the Keflavik area several times between the 25th June & yesterday (04/07), and so may well be your 'missing P-3'. The hex code equates to CP-140 140104 (14 Wing/Greenwood), and whilst I'm not aware of any issues with the hex code/serial tie up, I know that some people aren't too keen on relying on Mode S data as a serial source.

That said, I understand 140104 was in the static display at Andøya show on the 24th June - so it would be perfectly reasonable to conclude that the 'hit' on the foregoing hex code from Keflavik on the 25th June, was this CP-140 arriving from Andøya to take part in 'Dynamic Mongoose'.

Best wishes,

A very late reply but thank you for the hex tie up
