Can anyone ID the 2 Merlins that took off after the Tornados had done their thing?

By the look of it, one was coded 'CU' on the tail, and the other wasn't!

Just to further add to the Merlins serials posted by Mark ZH 846 sports the CU on tail.

With reference to the PDF they are down as arriving 19/3 at Bagotville, Quebec before going on to various shows in the USA including Melbourne Int show Florida 1-2 April. Presume they will be accompanied by the support A400M. Due to return home again staging through Bagotville 4/5. May again route via Lossiemouth on homeward journey let's hope.

Great log as always Al and thanks to Graeme for the tie-ups on the Alpha Jets. According to Scramble, the C12 was transferred to the US Army and inherited another 0 in the serial (84-00165) although still marked as 40165 - it last visited Lossie on 7 Mar 01 and is definitely showing its age. It was a fantastic day all round except for the rain and I managed to loose my glasses in the mudbath!

The C-12 carried United States of America titles thus making it a USAF operated aircraft and serial correct as shown in Al's log
I will get in touch with the scramble guys regarding this

This C-12C should be 52 Av Regiment U.S.Army,using Duke88 as a call sign which is 52 Avn call sign.

Not strange at all, the reason they carry "United States of America" titles is to ease the diplomatic red tape when they fly into civil airports around the World. The Beechcraft 'Queen Airs' based at Wiesbaden used the same titles back in the 80's and 90's.

ZH 827 Merlin HM2

ZH840 was poorly and was doing ground runs mid afternoon
