558 (424) has apparently been dragged back to Crewe after going u/s. Word on the wire is that it has suffered from quite a few problems since the refit and hasn't been the most reliable loco.

Needs new cylinder liners, apparently the power unit wasn't a refurbed one but taken from one of the soon to be disposed of locos.

Cheers

Hi Shane :P

Thanks for the gen, mate :thumb:

Usual story then, save a few too many pennies and end up spending a few too many pounds

Cheers ;)

68s ugly? Well. Not half as ugly as the old 67s. And they actually sound good double-headed with up to 40 Tescos on the draw-bar up the hills.

Power unit is ex 37682. Bogies are ex 37407 (itself currently undergoing major overhaul at RVEl).

37558/424 was released from Loram, Derby yesterday following repairs. Failed on the trip north however.
