Anyone us Teleconverters with your lenses or do you just rely on cropping in post?

I use the canon x1.4 mk III regularly on my Canon 500mm f4 with no noticeable loss of sharpness and IQ and the x2 mk III is much the same
The last time I saw an F22 at Lakenheath i DIDN'T photoshop it...

Agreed. I have a 1.4x Mk III I use on my 100-400 Mk2 and a 2.0x Mk II that I use on my 70-200mm and they both perform pretty well.

I have been looking at the Kenko 1.4 pro dgx ones - they are supposed to be good?

I purchased a Kenko TC years ago and to be honest they should stick to making coffee ;) the difference was night and day in my opinion :)

Echoing earlier posts, my experience with TC's has been mixed. A 1.4 will shift exposure by 1.4 stops and in poor light there will be some hunting, less so in good sunlight,
Remember that adding a TC means adding more glass to your lens.
Your post doesn't indicate what lens you are using, but if you are using a lens in which the maximum f stop is 4.5 or 5.6 I would resist from using one.

FWIW, the lens manufacturers' "matched" TCs are generally a lot better than the3rd party ones because the manufacturers know much more about the characteristics of the lenses to which they should, and should not, be matched - OTOH, you still have the light loss issues.

Like yourself, i have used a 1.4x Mk III with my 100-400 Mk2 but have found it sluggish and shockingly soft. However, it works perfectly with my 300 2.8 and still gives wonderfully sharp images.
