Sorry, Dave - all I've got for that day (Mildenhall Air Fete) were the two "SJ" F-4Es 72-1489 and 73-1163.

Cheers,

Bob

Dave,

The CH-53Cs that were supporting the Presidential visit were 10928 & 10930. BARG doesn't show them to be at LN on that date though.

hi Ian,
thanks, if I remember right the VH-3D's had been airlifted in and were being readied for test flights, a couple more may have departed before the weekend...

When I passed Northolt at 0645 on Fri 8th June'84 there were 5 CH-53C's present in support of President Reagan's visit but no VH-3D's were seen.
10924, 10928, 10930, 10932 and 01630

The Northolt section of `BAR` gives a good explanation of what happened although serial tie-ups couldn't be confirmed in relation to Lakenheath.

29 May - 10930 and 10932 arrived as did VH-3D's 159358 and 159360.
30 May - 01630 arrived
4 June - VH-3D's 159357 and 159359 arrived
5 June - 10924 and 10928 arrived
By 1300L Sun 10 June only 3 CH-53C's remained.

On 6 June at 2030L 2 VH-3D's flew Northolt - Lakenheath as "Nighthawk 05/12" but didn't return.
On Sun 10 June, following President Reagan's departure from Heathrow, the remaining 2 VH-3D's departed Northolt at 1300L for Lakenheath together with 2, of the remaining 3 CH-53C's.
Later on the Sunday the 2 CH-53's returned from Lakenheath to join the 3d and all 3 of them then departed Northolt for Sembach.

Reagan went to France for the 50th anniversary of D-Day on 6th June, in a posse of 5 VH-3s and 4 H-53s. Does anyone know which ones they were? (seen from a grey ship in the Channel!)

My log for LN at around 13.00 on 10.6.84 notes 10932 CH53 liz, ?9524 camo (which I believe must have been 10924). Also noted 24129 VC135, and 2 VH3 which I couldn't read off.
