Canon 80D Batteries

Post by Sparky 119 » Fri Dec 02, 2016 3:22 pm

I will shortly be starting to use an 80D, having previously used a 50D I was able to use after market batteries to good effect but correct me if I am wrong that the latest generation of cameras flash up warnings about using non Canon batteries. The question is are there any batteries available that get around this problem, any advice appreciated.

I've got a Hahnel HL-E6 for my 80D, no problems so far (I'm using it in preference to the Canon supplied battery just to test it).

Hi Sneezy 24,thanks for the info, can you just confirm that the camera does not flag up warnings about non Canon product and warranty invalidation threat.

Many thanks Sneezy 24, I was originally thinking that Canon were trying to force users to have to buy their batteries as a friend of mine had warnings come up on his 750D.

As an update to my earlier request I bought a pair of Top Max batteries on amazon and they work perfectly, I also took a punt on an Eachshot battery grip for £26 also on Amazon, apart from not being stamped Canon it works exactly the same at a fraction of the cost. HTH.
