Hercules circling

Post by mistyar66 » Thu Oct 15, 2015 10:19 am

Morning all . . just a quickie, I keep hearing it, then keep seeing it on FL24 - but anyone got any ideas why this Herc would spend the morning at 19,000ft circling just to the south of Scampton??

ZH882 c130j is plotting on PP doing a similar pattern at this time at least its at 19000 ft but understand the constant droning must be annoying

At least you get to see some military

Even if its droning around for hours, I rarely see anything down here in London (excluding the winged buses) at Heathrow, and the odd Helicopter here and there

Always surprises me how accurate these sort of flights are. Guess they must use some sort of autopilot as manual control would never be so precise. So if you are feedup sitting on the ground listening to it just think about being on the aircraft. It would appear to be a surveillance profile, maybe with rear crew operating equipment. All very hush hush.

Must be annoying if directly underneath, although I can intermittently hear it from my position.

However, for my money, the sound of British Military Aircraft, is the sound of freedom.

Something has been circling most of the day today, still at it now, sounds like an Islander.

What's that got to do with a Hercules circling around last October?

Anyway, Defender ZH005 has been circling Lincoln at 10,000' for quite a while now. :)
