Not sure if this is the right section but I was given a control column for a Javelin when 228OCU disbanded at Leuchars in the 60`s.Always wondered about its history .Would appreciatte any clues about where to start as it has quite a few numbers on it.

Javelin control column
Re: Javelin control column
Any numbers look like an aircraft serial number ? Something like XHfollowed by a 3 digit number ?
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.
Re: Javelin control column
There should be a "plate" screwed to the bottom of the stick. This will have a number something like AC60150 ( AC & then a 5 digit number ). As far as I know there are quite a few Javelin Stick tops, each with a different number. The AC61050 was only fitted to the T3 trainer ( according to my notes ... from a secret source ! )
Here's the top of my AC61050
& here's the plate I'm referring to
Give us some more info !
My dad flew Javelins out of Leuchars in the early 60's ( 29 Sqn ) - he may have used your stick top !

Re: Javelin control column
It looks exactly like the one in the previous pics..number is AC14284 ISS NO 58561 on the plate and AC14323 embossed on the grip. What looks like S1/JAV4811J 462 has been handwritten on it.

Steve Should have added I probably watched your dad .When they took of they usually headed over Carnoustie at fairly low level. It was what started my interest in aircraft so its your dads fault. As well as the column I got a picture of the CO`S non camo Javelin and a photo of the instructors at the time of disbanding.Dont know if your dad would be on it?
