Lightning code / serial tie up's

Lightning code / serial tie up's

In the later years the Lightning squadrons pooled their aircraft maintance to even out airframe hours consquently serial / code changed quite often. Can somebody confirm the following....

19/11/85 Coningsby 2 x Lightnings coded BH and BJ
06/06/86 Cranwell Lightning T5 coded DW
15/04/87 Binbrook Lightning coded AC
02/07/87 Binbrook Lightning coded AJ and BA . Also I logged seven decoys including those coded 1, 2, 4, 6 & 7. serial tie up ?
19/04/88 Binbrook Lightning coded BE

This is the best I can do, I hope this is of help.

XS897/AC noted flying at Binbrook 3/3/87 and again on 7/5/87

XR725/BA noted flying at Binbrook 17/8/87

XS923/BE noted at Binbrook 21/4/88

These are the nearest dates I can find to the ones you quoted.

Regarding the T5 coded "DW" in 1986. I suspect this is XS459, which I have noted as coded DW in late 1985. I cant find another coded DW anywhere in my logs.

I will dig deeper into my logs and writings and I will help more if I can. Thanks for making me feel old!

After a little research I managed to find the following on the MAR website of photo's. Although XS454 is mentioned as # 3 & # 4.

Decoy # 3 -
Decoy # 4 -
Decoy # 5 - XS449
Decoy # 6 - XP695
Decoy # 7 - XM183
Decoy # 8 - XM181

I have the decoys on 11/05/87 as XM181,XM183,XP695,XR752,XS418,XS423,XS449 and XS454.I didn't note the numeric codes though.

B.A.R.G did a full Lightning review in DEC 85, which shows the following:

XR756 BH 11 Sqn (camo)
XR759 BJ 11 Sqn (camo)

Noted at Leuchars on 17/12/80 were:-

XP750/AQ and XS458/AT of 5 sqn and XR763/BE of 11 sqn,does anyone know what AH and BH were on that day ?
