Just out of interest doesn't an F-15 do pretty much the same kind of display no matter what country it's from?
Re: What aircraft would you like to see at RIAT 2019
F-14 and MiG-31 from our close friends the Iranians and Russians
Re: What aircraft would you like to see at RIAT 2019
There hasn't been an F-15 display in this country as long as I've been in this hobby and that's a while and I can only recall USAF ones being at UK shows in the odd fly past, no one elsesChrisCwmbran wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 6:30 pmJust out of interest doesn't an F-15 do pretty much the same kind of display no matter what country it's from?

Its a real shame too as the F-15E demo at MAKS a few years back, that's available on YouTube, is simply stunning.bizfreeq wrote: ↑Tue Nov 27, 2018 10:41 amThere hasn't been an F-15 display in this country as long as I've been in this hobby and that's a while and I can only recall USAF ones being at UK shows in the odd fly past, no one elsesChrisCwmbran wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 6:30 pmJust out of interest doesn't an F-15 do pretty much the same kind of display no matter what country it's from?

An F-15 demo would be awesome
Personally, would love to see a Tornado Role Demo - I only ever got to see the RAF's one once, back in 2012/13 but wasn't into photography back then
Now some Japanese phooms would be sweeeeet

You have forgotten the three Israeli F-15I's that appeared at the Waddington show in 2001. They flew in the display but without the flares they used in the practice.bizfreeq wrote: ↑Tue Nov 27, 2018 10:41 amThere hasn't been an F-15 display in this country as long as I've been in this hobby and that's a while and I can only recall USAF ones being at UK shows in the odd fly past, no one elsesChrisCwmbran wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 6:30 pmJust out of interest doesn't an F-15 do pretty much the same kind of display no matter what country it's from?

Yep the Tornado Role Demo was my favourite air show display of all time. You just cant beat a fully swept, ultra low, fast and burning Tornado GR4 (especially if you can get some dark sky in to boot). I was lucky to see it a few times but specifically will never forget time I went and stood on the bridge over the A27, just to the south of the Goodwood festival of speed site, when the role demo pair were displaying. The bridge sits higher than the show site and on a couple of occasions one of the GR4's ran in low, very fast and on afterburner over the bridge into the show site with wings fully swept.. and it is the loudest aircraft noise I have ever heard as it was under 100 feet from the top of my head! Never to be forgotten

There was a USAF F-15C display at RIAT in the mid 2000s. I cannot remember the exact year but I found this video of it on youtube - https://youtu.be/xQCzwECRswobizfreeq wrote: ↑Tue Nov 27, 2018 10:41 amThere hasn't been an F-15 display in this country as long as I've been in this hobby and that's a while and I can only recall USAF ones being at UK shows in the odd fly past, no one elsesChrisCwmbran wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 6:30 pmJust out of interest doesn't an F-15 do pretty much the same kind of display no matter what country it's from?

There was also an F-15 display at duxford a few years ago now but would probably have been around 2010-2011

Re: What aircraft would you like to see at RIAT 2019
I used to know the two Bitburg F-15 display pilots (at least to speak to) in the mid 80's - Capt Mike Bebo and Maj Eric Neidergard. One went off to the Thunderbirds, and the other became Co of 57FIS up in Iceland. Anyhow - yes all USAF F-15 displays were the same. The pilots used to go to Nellis early in the year to get trained up on the approved TAC demo routine. Once they'd been signed off as safe, they returned to their home bases and had to do several practices per month to remain qualified. Back then there were F15 (Bitburg) , F16 (Hahn) and A10 (Woodbridge) display pilots based in Europe. However, when ACC was formed in the early 90's that all changed. They switched to having just one or two pilots per type trained up for the whole USAF. Those pilots then get flown all around the world to do their shows - hence East coast and West coast F-15/F-16/A10 displays, and more recently Raptor displays. I've no doubt that F-35 will be the same.bizfreeq wrote: ↑Tue Nov 27, 2018 10:41 amThere hasn't been an F-15 display in this country as long as I've been in this hobby and that's a while and I can only recall USAF ones being at UK shows in the odd fly past, no one elsesChrisCwmbran wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 6:30 pmJust out of interest doesn't an F-15 do pretty much the same kind of display no matter what country it's from?
You won't get a solo aircraft display unless there is a suitably trained and qualified display pilot. So unless ACC decide to train up an F-15C/E crew, and fly him/her over for some shows, then there isn't going to be a USAF solo demo.
Anyway, all that said, I vote for a display by a Russian Mig-25. Must be a proper Mig-25 mind, with a great big f**k off red star on the tail.

The A-10 Demo Team have adjusted their July dates from 17-18th July, to 27th-28th July, leaving the RIAT weekend free...
