Belgian Air Comp. truck convoy
Belgian Air Comp. truck convoy
A substantial truck convoy arrived into the Humber ferry terminal of Killingholme from Zeebrugge yesterday 1st November, all badged Belgian Air Component. Including quite a number of drawbar vehicles with ISO containers, M-Benz Unimogs with trailers, low loaders with ground electric supply sets and a number of (full) minibuses. It all looked rather helicopter type field support equipment.
They headed westbound along A180 from port and looked to be making for A1 - if any one knows where they have set up camp - Otterburn?

Certainly recall some A109s dropping into Coningsby for gas

Re: Belgian Air Comp. truck convoy
The Belgians will have a component in Norway for the NATO excercise as well, so not many of their forces left at home!
Re: Belgian Air Comp. truck convoy
Unrelated to the convoy but adding to what Snoop95 said
The Belgians are also the lead nations on Baltic policing dutie at the moment and had a small one detachment in Alps on altitude training although that might have ended last week. Gotta give the Belgians credit, they don't shurk their responsibilities.
Fingers crossed we get a A109 det, they do look smart

Re: Belgian Air Comp. truck convoy
You'll find the Belgians using the camp itself and not the deployment area.
Re: Belgian Air Comp. truck convoy
I know my way around Otterburn Pete, I even checked a few of the sites away from the main areas, that have been used in the past. They were not there, and there was no sign of any aviation support assets either.PeteHemsley wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 4:57 pmYou'll find the Belgians using the camp itself and not the deployment area.

Re: Belgian Air Comp. truck convoy
Not doubting that all. The last time the Belgians deployed, they were in the main camp. There's nothing else in the surrounding area either, that I know of anyway!toom317 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 8:35 pmI know my way around Otterburn Pete, I even checked a few of the sites away from the main areas, that have been used in the past. Re: Belgian Air Comp. truck convoy
Sounds like they are operating from Rochester camp then, the old German UH1 deployment field from Ardent Ground exercise days, kust further north of Otterburn.
Re: Belgian Air Comp. truck convoy
Graham, that camp site was demolished years ago, and "returned to nature". I was down there again today, and at various point during the day there were 3 A109's and an NH90, that I saw between 11.00 and 16.00. None of the aircraft are based at Otterburn, and they appear to be flying in from Newcastle. The 109's did land at the camp at the old heli pads, not the new compound. Again there were no aircraft support assets, unless there was a tanker up at the heli pad, but if there was, it was no Oskosh. I have tried to find a site with movements at Newcastle, to confirm if they are there, but have been unable to find any.

Re: Belgian Air Comp. truck convoy
That's a wee bit rubbish Danny, so no chance of shots??
Re: Belgian Air Comp. truck convoy
Danny, I was at Newcastle Airport between 1015 - 1300 the only Belgian movement that I saw was the 2 returning NH90's at 1045.
