Am I missing something here; the half-show on Friday is the same price as the full days...?

Re: RIAT 2019 - Tickets on sale!!
Seems to be the case for 2019.
Re: RIAT 2019 - Tickets on sale!!
For the first time ever Sunday ticket and Village Enclosure all booked and paid for on the first day of sales.
Re: RIAT 2019 - Tickets on sale!!
I think you're correct! Assuming that a visiting aircraft of high interest is late arriving & comes Friday, allied to scheduled Friday arrivals, the only way to see these would be a £57 ticket or a Mach-pass! Despite RIAT requests not to view from outside the fence, is it only me that thinks that having NO P&V facility on Friday will promote just that?Seahornet1 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 27, 2018 1:51 pmAm I missing something here; the half-show on Friday is the same price as the full days...?

Seems that the 2018 show was the ideal opportunity for them to jack the prices up and then return the 2019 show to normality, but leave the prices up. Exactly what I suspected they would do, and they have ! Not quite playing ball chaps !

And so it starts...
Re: RIAT 2019 - Tickets on sale!!
Perhaps the few people that have started bleating about ticket prices, should take a step back and just think of the rising cost each year incurred on putting on this aviation spectacular for our enjoyment. Long may it continue, my first visits to the Air Tattoos at Greenham and I keep returning and have a thoroughly good day out.
Re: RIAT 2019 - Tickets on sale!!
The annual and traditional complaining about ticket prices gets a little boring to read. You either think it's good value for money or you don't.
If some perspective could be allowed, I've just viewed the Manchester United football ticket web site and the cheapest ticket to see some over-paid millionares kick a bag of air and faking injuries for 90 minutes is £45 (v Fulham on 8th December if anyone's thinking of going). £47 for RIAT 19 is expensive, but at least you get a whole day of entertainment, and the aircraft don't roll around on the ground trying to get another aircraft booked or sent off.
For me, I think it's good value for what I receive in return. I only wish paying more would be enough to make my photography better!
On the subject of photos, I note on the RIAT web site that one of the amended T&C's for 2019 is;
"7. The Ticket Holder shall not without the Organisers' prior written consent sell, license, or otherwise exploit, or attempt to exploit, any material whether written or in the form of digital or photographic film, sound, video including livestreaming or other recording or computer software obtained or made at the Showground or within the Park & View areas."
Does this mean that anyone posting photos of RIAT 2019 on social media (including FC) without written permission could be deemed to be "exploiting" those photos and be in breach of those T&C's?

I don't think so - exploitation means benefiting from. So unless they are published with the intent of advertising for reward then no, there is no exlpoitation involved.

So I knew that there would be a reaction. Sorry guys, a hike of around 45-50% over a period of approx 24 months ain't on.The longer you keep willingly throwing money at them, they will keep turning you upside down and emptying your pockets. The fact that the Friday display is half of the weekend display in means of time and participants is a disgrace, as they darn well know that some aircraft may not have arrived by the end of Fridays display.
Would you go to Tesco's, buy £30 quids worth of groceries but pay £60.00. NO YOU WOULDN'T.
I know that RIAT contributes to all the good causes, but there needs to be a reality check. Remember Vulcan to the Sky ? Oh yes. We all thought it was going to XH558, didn't we ? Well , lets put it this way, I have my suspicions !

As uncomfortable as it may be there is only one "reality check" for the organisers. If the tickets sell then they have done their job. The same economic principle applies to any scenario. The sellers (RIAT in this case) won't be concerned with who buys as long as someone does. If you really want to blame someone then blame the ticket buyers who are prepared to pay. Harsh it may be but it is simple economics.

Too true Nighthawke. The old rules of supply and demand apply. I would rather pay to see quality of current hardware at RIAT than go to Duxford and see old classics but each to their own.
I will stay with FRIAT while I still have breath.

If we all had to pay the insurance increases after the likes of Shoreham you'd be looking at a 1006% increase and not a 35% increase. Finances changed dramatically a couple of years ago and will continue to do so. These increases can kill shows as we've seen over the last year or so.
I'm sure the guys aren't putting prices up without having a reason to do so.
