Best Time of day to visit

Post by Olief22raptor » Tue Aug 21, 2018 11:50 am

I may soon visit Coningsby for a couple days and am planning on stopping at Marham on the way/way back.Does anybody know if there is any time of day where flying is most likely.

Refer to the post 'Marham ops' and you will get an idea.

In my experience although not a cast iron rule late morning say 11 ish they will be out for around an hour then maybe a couple of launches mid afternoon although with the wind down of the Tonka fleet and the sparodic(to say the least)F35 activity Marham is very quiet at the best of times but good luck anyway.

Usually 1045-1130 morning launch. 1.45/2 hour sorties, down by 1245/1pm, then up again 2.30-3pm. I believe the hot pits are unavailable so expect a longer turn around time. Afternoon sorties will be down by 4.45/5pm.

Also, no flying on Fridays - during September, at least.

Yep no flying on Fridays. Although 1 Marham launched week before last , sortie needed to be flown I guess.

I have just come back from a few days spotting at Marham, Lakenheath and Mildenhall. I found that Marham was varied with flying as the first day we spotted from 1100 till 1700 and got 2 Marham flights, a Voodoo flight and a Monster flight where as on the second day between about 1600 and 1630 we just got 2 Marham flights. We did hear the F35 on a late circuit bash though while at the lodge.

Hope that helps

Chris

May be an exception to the rule but two took off on Friday 07/09 . Don't know if they landed as we had to go out

I did think it unusual
