Hope they bring a support aircraft that isn't 78820 which always comes to Fairford (not that I'm moaning about seeing an active IL76!).

As it stands, the Il-76 won't be at Kleine Brogel during the show and will instead be based at Melsbroek after dropping support equipment/personnel.

You wouldn't have seen them in 2014 - they only usually fly at Sanicole due to 31 Squadron's close association with the flying club there. It is formation routine but with lots of flares!

Also, don't expect a repeat of the "Air Power Demo" as seen in 2014.

Hi
Now thinking of driving from near waddo to do the Saturday. Any advice please. Is it better to get around midnight shuttle etc and park and snooze pre show. Will probably stay over sat night and drive home Sunday.
Cheers
Ian

Breitling Jet Team has been added this evening :thumb: Hope they use flares again

UPDATE PROGRAM: Breitling Jet Team

Breitling Jet Team flies six L-39 Albatross of Czech origin. This was the most common jet trainer in the former Warsaw Pact and is still heavily used in many countries across the world. The team is based in the south of France at Dijon. The leader Jacques Bothelin is the only civilian pilot in the team, the other team members are former members of the French air force, several among them with the Patrouille de France.

Breitling Jet Team flies a demonstration lasting just over 20 minutes with non-stop action for the audience. Tight formations, breathtaking cross-overs and solo manoeuvres showcasing the L-39’s agility follow each other in quick succession. One of the highlights of the demonstration is the Apache roll, with one aircraft barrel-rolling around the formation, a figure invented by Jacques Bothelin and which has been copied by many other teams.

It's a 3+ hour trek once off the ferry / Eurostar, would make it a long day  . Not sure how long the car park is open, might be worth emailing the sjow website asking. Nothing mentioned on the website. Or ask Chrisse on UKAR. Remember there is a €10 charge for parking

Ian, we've done KB as a day-raid from Lincoln several times. We've normally left around 1900ish, got a train or boat around 0100 (arriving 0300-0400L dependent on which route - it's an hour longer Dover to Dunkirk but it's an extra hour's kip..) and driven up to the show from there, normally stopping at services to grab a coffee & a snack en route. We've always arrived pretty much as the car parking opens & gone straight to the queue to get in. We normally get a train/boat back around 2200ish and we're back in Lincoln by the small hours of the next day.

Definitely a 2-driver job at a minimum, but certainly do-able as a day-raid.

The last couple of years I've used the Hull-Rotterdam night boat & stayed near the airfield for a few days - that makes a huge difference in terms of lack of fatigue.

G.
