The Speech the marching goes on for about 58 minutes and then the flypast starts with various helicopters, bombers, transports
and fighters, always seem to get brilliant weather for these events.

Henry Blofeld Over and Out.

Post by AndrewBarclay » Thu May 17, 2018 6:55 pm

Henry Blofeld duly arrived at the Blackitt & Booths Book shop today to publicise and personally autograph copies of his latest book
"Over and Out" The innings of a lifetime with Test Match Special.

Henry endorsed my copy with his famous catchphrase "My Dear Old Thing" I have a number of autographed books one of my
favourites is The Feathermen by Sir Ranulph Fiennes.

In the near future a former Chief Test Pilot at Warton will be on hand to sign copies of his book more about this later.

Picture the scene Blowers has announced his retirement from Test Match Special it is the start of the second test at Trent Bridge.
Henry knew that something connected with his retirement was going to happen, but he had no idea what. He went through a
gate into the Ratcliffe Road and turned towards the lights and the traffic island. It suddenly occured to Blowers he was going
to one of John Arlots favourite watering holes, The Trent Bridge Inn, which is in the corner of the ground. Wine was likely to
be involved, which was a pity because he was on a teetotal stint. But no. he walked on past the entrance to the pub entrance
and round the bend at the road junction. What now? He could'nt think of anything. Then at the first bus stop in loughborough road,
he saw a gleaming new green double-decker as he approached the rear of the bus he saw that there was a Sign on the top of the
bus " Blowers my dear old thing"

There was quite a gathering around the bus to greet him The Nottingham City Council had over the years appreciated his interest
in their buses trundling up and down loughborough road more occasionally down the Bridgford Road.he shook hands with the
besuited head of Nottingham City Council. he was shown another white inscription panel painted across the front of the bonnet,
which read "Henry Blowfeld OBE. This is one of the many anecdotes in this fantastic book. Henry signed my copy of his book
"My Dear Old Thing"

If members of Fighter Control are not interested in cricket I recommend James Comey's Book A Higher Loyalty below is a review just to whet your appetite;

AAAaaaaah. England on a calm summers day, no stress, well dressed people, proper English being spoken. When people had good manners, and high standards. Test Match at The Oval, Jonners and Blowers, England at it's best.[Willey, caught Dilley, bowled Lilley.] :) :) Nostalgia, eh, a thing of the past.

As you can see all the old Eurostar trains have been replaced, certainly beats flying. I travel on Great Rail Journeys and I
enjoy St Pancras as a starting off point.
