Just got Guns N' Roses tickets    to quote Lieutenant The Honourable George Colthurst St. Barleigh (Blackadder Goes Forth ) “I’m as excited as a terribly excited person who has a really good reason for being terribly excited.”

Not a fan in the slightest but George Michael has gone today at 53, no details other than passed away quietly.

Apparently it's heart failure, not a massive fan either, but I did get to meet them when they made the video for "Club Tropicana" at the hotel we were at in Ibiza in '85 (Pykes) and I got a little bit part in it.
Lovely man, Andrew Ridgeley and the girls were a bit 'off' but he had time for all the autographs and photos, I don't recall if he actually purchased any of them but the drinks were flowing freely whilst they shot the video.
That's me tipping him off of the lilo on 1 min 22 secs !

I've never been a Wham / George Michael fan, but...
You've got to hand it to the man that he certainly fired out some cracking songs that had the capability to fill dance floors at clubs & discotheques across the world :thumb:.
RIP, but in his music he'll live on!

I went to see George in concert at Wembley Arena 2006 and I can honestly say it was "THE" best concert I have been to, he was a great performer
& his voice was like listening to a CD, so pure

RIP George

Hi all, I'm having my first go at promoting a gig. 14th January at the Tunbridge Wells Forum I'm putting on a DJ set from Don Letts - Radio6 Music DJ and BBC4 documentary maker, the man who introduced the Clash and punk to reggae, and Rotten Hill Gang who are a West London band with members from BADII, Razorlight and others, maybe some guest appearaances but I can't promise anything definite.

Tickets

Thursday the band are releasing 'Submission' with Glen Matlock and Paul Cook from the Sex Pistols guesting.

Thanks

Went to see Sabaton and Accept at the Brixton Academy Saturday night, both were awesome. Accept really proved they are on the comeback with a vengeance and they have an energy that some younger bands could do well to emulate. Sabaton I would highly recommend seeing. Their whole stage production is well worth the entrance fee let alone the historical military bent of their music. They are quite clearly enjoying performing for their audience which is sadly lacking in many performers today. Joakim Brodén their lead singer is one of the most genuine and humble performers I've ever come across.
It's been many years since I last went to the venue too so I was very pleasantly surprised that it was still a great venue to watch and listen to music. A word of advice though, if you want a few pints drink them elsewhere before and after the gig, the prices are ridiculous in the extreme!
Cheers

My gig (see post above) was a great success, I'll be doing more. The support band Ladybird were a knockout, watch out for them. Isaac from Slaves came down to see them specifically, Don Letts was hugely impressed, expect big things...

"Rocking" Desmond Carrington passed away last evening, 1st Feb; doubly sad as I didn't get to hear a program in his honour on Radio 2 last night (recorded before his death; I don't have 'listen again' facilities at my gaff). Wonder what'll happen to Goldenpaws Sam?
Sleep tight Desmond; I wont be the only one that really enjoyed listening to The Music Goes Round each Friday night.
Roger.
