How absolutely ironic. I've just last night finished reading a book about "The Dambusters" and it goes into great detail on the making of the film, including shooting locations etc, and how Todd got to taxi a Lancaster for a scene!!
As some of you know , I was over at the "Petwood Hotel" a couple of weeks ago (The 617 squdron officers mess) with my mother amongst others, and she recounted a story of how she and my father were in there taking afternoon tea (Pre 1990) when who should walk in and sit next to them, but Richard Todd himself , how wierd that must have felt!!!

RIP Richard Todd

I am extremely and sincerely sad to hear the news about the death of Richard Todd. Mr Todd will forever be remembered by this Aviation Enthusiast at least for his magnificent performance at Wing Commander Guy Gibson in the Dambusters (I really hope they don't remake it) - "Rad, Shutters, Auto". Now to hum that tune in tribute.

R.I.P. Richard Todd, You are a legend.

Very sad news, he was a very talented actor and played the part of Guy Gibson well, The Dambusters is one of my favourite films. I Have visited the Petwood Hotel a few times but sadly never had the pleasure of seeing him there.

RIP Richard Todd
