Re: ISS visible again
What does it look like with the naked eye? Just a point of light? It's due over at 8:24PM this evening and I'm wondering what to look out for.
Re: ISS visible again
With the naked eye it looks like a bright white light (Trust me you'll know when you see it ). If you have a powerful telescope or camera lens you can see the shape of it
Dont forget 2 mins before the ISS you should be able to see the progress supply ship Which undocked from the ISS yesterday

Cheers Gary, I will watch with interest. It's been clear skies here in Lincolnshire for the past few days. I spotted Venus last night in the South East at about 11pm. Not seen it look that bright in a long time.

Re: ISS visible again
I think at this time of year, Venus falls below the horizon at dusk. You were probably looking at Jupiter. It's very bright in the night time sky at the moment.I spotted Venus last night in the South East at about 11pm
Re: ISS visible again
Hmm, could be Jupiter I suppose but it sure looked like Venus.
Here's an interesting web page http://www.jodrellbank.manchester.ac.uk ... /nightsky/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it says up to 5 planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Uranus) will be visible through the month of September. I've not seen Mercury before so I'll be looking out for that. It could reach up to 15 degrees elevation just before dawn towards the end of the month.

Tonight at 20.50 there is a -3.5 Magnitude (Very bright) pass in my neck of the woods. There's nowt on the box so, if it remains clear, I may get out there with the camera and 'Scope!!
