Survival mode + psychology debate

Post by Terry Tibbs » Fri Mar 23, 2018 7:47 am

Hi all :)

I think it is fair to presume that we all encounter some pretty stressful situations, some naturally more than others.

Question is how do you cope/react and perhaps more importantly even well after any event - hopefully avoid letting it manifest itself through your own words, actions or both? In short taking things out on others via doing irrational things. These things can often have a habit to "snowball."

I have generally noticed how it seems more folk appear to be on "edge" with any little gripe often leading to a negative response, is this maybe being in survival mode? Due to circumstances often beyond their control, they have a more blinkered/protective outlook? A mindset which is partly compromised due to stress or any number of reasons in turn having a higher inability to maybe see reason/logic.

One example - those road rage incidents which stem from let's face it, hardly anything, invasion of space etc etc. to full blown incidents. A relatively minor conflict - but does this go directly back to the "snowball" effect mentioned above? A trigger point has been met? Your outlet suddenly becomes a complete stranger sat in their vehicle...

Yes it is a pretty complex subject but it has been proven over and over that talking about these issues are the first steps in the right direction. Feel free to share your thoughts, tips, case scenarios, advice or even any questions/ideas. Who knows, there may well be some more learned folk amongst us or indeed others who may wish to acquire their wisdom and helpful advice. Too much anger, stress, seldom does good. Relaxation techniques help? All thoughts welcomed.

We know knowledge is power :thumb: people all too often overlook their most important muscle, their grey matter, please remain mindful of that.
