Brilliant mind. My late best friend worked with him at Cambridge University [ David R was the Chief Surveyor at the University] and described him as 'a right royal pain in the ass.' Very, very demanding, and would write frequently to the Cambridge Evening News if he didn't get his way. He was next to my wife and I in a restaurant some years ago with his then wife. He was polite and well mannered, speaking through his computer. Sad loss to the Scientific profession.

Very sad. He originally thought after being diagnosed at 21 he wouldnt live long enough to get his PHD, and he got to 76! A sad loss.

RIP
