Decided to have a lunch meeting with colleagues in our favourite Italian.
Scheduled for 60mins from 12.
Blizzards started at 12:45, so we stayed and enjoyed the wine.
Taxis all round at 3:30pm
Collect the cars tomorrow.
Ah well, can't remember if we made any good decisions at all...hic

Fair to say it was a bit nippy out. Not often do we experience the current levels of windchill, more tomorrow?

No pretending blizzards are on the way for some, worst far from over. Although today's showers were potent enough they are only the tip of the proverbial iceberg, pun intended. Take it easy out there. Roll on spring :thumb:

Red warnings extending. If in doubt don't go out, may be a tough call however so is being stranded in atrocious weather or broken down.

This is one serious episode and it has only just began. No hype here whatsoever and that's maybe part of the problem when complacency sets in? Those ridiculous headlines when a few cm fall. This will be measured in feet come tomorrow :O

The difference of a few miles seems to be enough where ive not had that much snow at home, but the guys at work are talking of more than 6 inches of snow! Hopefully my rest days were enough to miss all the hard work again and i have the bonus of the wife n kids home because the schools are closed. Looks like a massive over-reaction to me as the roads around me are not bad at all.

My eldest even made it to work and back after driving in these conditions for the first time!

Geoff.

I doubt that, on a measuring stick, it would even manage to reach 1cm with me - what little there is. That is because I am not up a hill!! :P

We will see what tonight brings.
Cheers, Bob

To answer the thread title - white, cold, wet and a bloomin' nuisance (I hate snow!). Having said that there isn't that much around Brandon/Bury.

For those for whom the weather is causing a real problem, in fact for everyone - stay safe. Weekend forecast is a balmy (or barmy!) 6 degrees on Sunday - phew!

Update on last post, dug car out, went into village, sideways mostly. Picked up essentials, bacon, bread and most importantly whisky.

Four or so hours of light flurries had produced around 2.5cm, first area of heavier snow heading up this way now with a large amount due tonight.

No snow here south/east of Lincoln for over 24hrs. Ice on the fish pond has even thinned a little over night.
Still bitterly cold and windy tho'.

Very windy in Mid Wales last night. Road through Village just about passable due to drifts. Still have the bitter east wind, current temp -3c Not snowing at the moment. Very few cars about & 99% of those are 4x4's. One young lad in a tractor did think it's would be fun to drive through a high speed with no lights on. Just luck he didn't meet anybody coming the other way :grr:

Going to Center Parc's Elvedon Forest on Monday for 4 days, I think(hopefully) it will be all gone by then. Hope to get to Johns Field & LN during the week.

A degree or two above freezing is going to feel positively tropical after the past few days. 51cm of snow reported in St.Athan! Severe cold easing over week end.

But as many know it is not the wrong type of weather but the wrong type of clothing. I recall one hot day last summer seeing a gent panting and bemoaning that he was too hot? Fact he was still wearing a thick blazer probably didn't help. Had to laugh.

Since I got up this morning I can see a lot more grass than snow now BUT the snow from the south is due this evening.
