Something to cheer about, Butler & Morgan are due some runs, so at last we have something to look forward too.

Just heard on BBC News that the ECB has decided that Ben Stokes should now be considered as available for England, as a potential long delay before trial is unfair to all parties.

I have no view personally either way. But it does seem illogical, not available whilst a police decision is made. Now that has been and the CPS conclude that a charge with a serious offence is correct.
ECB now say available, in the possition which for them was surely the worst outcome. The other way round is understandable, available unless charged.

Could the ECB have thought differently if we weren’t hammered by a better Australian side? Say we won the Ashes?

After a stuttering start on a not easy batting wicket England had scored 200 for the loss of our 6 top batsmen.
Joss Butler was not out just shy of his half century when he was joined in a seventh wicket partnership by Chris Woakes. Butler & Woakes then put on 102 runs in 10 overs Butler 100 not out and Woakes 53 not out.
In the last 2 overs bowled by Starc and Cummings 38 runs were scored. This was Boys Own stuff.

Hopefully after 50 overs we will have stuffed the Aussies, but if not what a fantastic match to watch and listen too.

As The Army was singing " we win 5 - 4". The tour that is. Be 7 -4 with the 20/20's. :D

BBC Breakfast News just stated that Ben Stokes has announced he will not rejoin England until after his trial, whenever that is.

Ben Stokes: More details from the BBC then Google. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/cric ... 65496.html

"Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that Stokes is due at Bristol Magistrates' Court on February 13 to face the charge, brought following an incident outside a nightclub in the city in September."

The same day England play the first 20/20 in New Zealand.

What good sports we English are after winning the 50 overs 3nil as it was "Australia Day" today we rolled over for them, better to have a defeat now so we can take our winning form into the 20/20 and the World Cup.

Latest update England recovered from 8 runs for 5 wickets to a respectful score of 197 all out Chris Woakes
scoring 78 runs.

In the 5th and final 50 over match I thought 260 runs was probably too low, but as it turned out England yet again came out on top bowling Australia out for 247. So we won the series 4 wins to Australia one win. there were some outstanding performances in this 5th match Tom Curran' 5 wicket Haul, Joe Root was named
"Gillette Man of the Series." Special mention should be made of the contribution that the Captain Eoin Morgan made with his timely bowling changes and field settings.

It will be interesting to see who is left out of the team when Ben Stokes returns.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes sold for almost £1.4m in the Indian Premier League auction but Test captain Joe Root went unsold in the first round of bidding.

Sorry I edited this item by mistake because SWMBO entered the room and gave me a B=========ing for
failing to do a job for her.
