Hi all.
Do you guys find yourself chasing items on ebay?, only to be pipped at the last second. Like most people I like a good bargin, and with Ebay you can sometimes bag one. Another shopping site has now come on the internet, Shpock the boot sale app. Like Ebay you put in a bid and hope the seller says yes. Now this Shpock is only ment to local to your area, so you should nip round to pick the winning item up. I myself find what I want/like is not in my area, so I ask the seller to post and pay them by paypal. I have bought about two to three things without a hitch, and both a great bargin. Most if not all sellers will post, and you have to kind of trust the seller to send, so I first start by getting the name, address, phone number and email. I then check to see if the phone number is genuine by ringing the seller.
The Shpock system is set up on a conformation system between the seller and buyer, were a agreement is set up to pay and pick up items, not send through post. But I am not sure if it gose as far as Ebay in protection, as I said it is for local items.. In saying that I have bought an Uniden ubc75xlt and a Icom R2.
Anyone else got any views onthe Shpock app?.

Look at this Sellers feedback.

We left one of the neg's stating No Goods,No Comms & had to raise claim through Ebay.
We have had more luck with Shpock. Sold quite a few items & NO FEE'S. Last time I sold on Ebay their was a Final value fee, A postage fee & a paypal fee, which took nearly £6 off

Prefer eBay. They regularly send out offers to get a discount on the fees, so I've rarely paid more than a pound for the last few things I've sold on there. PayPal take their cut of course, unless it's something that's offered for collection only, but you can overcharge the postage by a pound or two to recoup some of that.
Shpock I found to be a waste of time. Small userbase means there's not much market, everyone on there wants it for nothing and had one guy come forward for a large item of furniture, which he didn't arrive to collect and then said it would be several more weeks until he could re-arrange collection due to religious holidays! At this point he said "let someone else have it", and when we did, he left a negative feedback saying we were "terrible".
Gumtree can be OK too, but like Shpock, there are an awful lot of time wasters that make enquiries and never reply, or agree to buy and never show up.
