I reckon the prices are going up at a rate of around 1-2p/l per week at the moment, and it won't slow down for a while now that the £ has dropped to about $1.11 and may drop further - that's you got when YOU (Or at least "some" of you) voted for Brexit (and I didn't because I was pretty sure, from a historical perspective, that's what would - now proven - happen if we decided to leave!). Beware of what you wish for because it may not come true because, often, quite the opposite - and that's the one you don't want - happens.

Topped up at Shell Saxondale on the A46 just outside RAF Newton and Bingham en route to CGY last Wednesday. £1.31 for V plus diesel.
That was just under £80 for 60 lts, It's getting silly now government action needed, but they won't, cos presumably VAT and fuel duty income also rises.

See my Jan. 18th/16 on page 9.

Fuel duty income fixed at 57.95p/litre, plus VAT from total sale.

The duty & VAT situation is what it is until the Government changes one/both (which would be difficult - given the current national/EU situation) and the huge exchange rate changes, and, TBH, it's effectively no worse than when prices hit 130p+/litre a very few years ago. Geo-political impacts have as great an impact on prices as does the current OPEC (etc.!) discussions/arguments on how much crude oil they will produce and sell.

Unfortunately that's the reality of where "we" are now, and are now likely to be for the foreseeable future. The government has a very difficult rope to tread - if you want "cheap" fuel then you will have to consider the consequences of the reduced tax that they might then get, and thus what they can afford to spend on the NHS and so on. BREXIT only made this situation WORSE because that caused the sterling v Euro/Dollar rate to significantly worsen because oil is priced in dollars!

At our Morrisons it's down to £1.11.9, but they're also doing 10p off a litre with a £50 shop spend.
