Avatars

Post by airfixpilot » Wed Apr 11, 2018 6:32 pm

Hi all
Just a quick question about avatars which members use on FC. Why did you choose the avatar you used for FC and what it resembles. Agreed that your favourite aircraft would be used but what about the unusual ones?

Mine I got through been into airfix models when I was young and been rather small in stature, I put the two together. Airfix aircraft and Airfix pilots. This also would be nice to find out why your Username came to be, eg mine was clear, re pilot & airfix.

This is post is just for a laugh.

Having dedicated some 14yrs+ of my military Career to the Tornado, the image (mine) was a no-brainer.
Specialising in Propulsion systems, the component best suited from the RB199 as a thrusty was the Reheat Module.
Works for me.

Avatar is one of my early attempts at aviation photography and features an F-102A and a TF-102A departing runway 05 at Lossie on the next leg of their delivery flight to Greece or Turkey, around 1970. Aah, I can hear the burners kicking in even now!

And the username? Well, I am a fan of these beauties, and saw around 140 of them at Lossie during my early years in the hobby.

That's when the base was a damn sight busier than it is now!!

well, the Avatar is still the best photo I have ever taken in the Mach Loop (or anywhere) of the GR4
and the username ... well, I have owned 7 Vx Fronteras' in my time, I love the car for its character and that it's underestimated when off-road so it's great fun

Manfred von Trippenhopf is a character from the album "Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters" , a satirical take on the Lockheed F-104 G saga, hence the Avatar :D

Name is obvious  Avatar is just one of my favourite patches I've bought recently ( Sanicole 2017) it was from 900 Sqn RNLAF. I usually have a combo of Marham squadron but haven't done a new one since 12(B) disbanded

Mine was taken at dusk over The Ochil Hills, near Stirling, a few years ago.
I've never seen such amazing clouds, before or since. I'm still unsure of the correct designation.

Follower of "Da Bears" since they won superbowl XX . Those 85 Bears were the main attraction on the first proper coverage of American Football on Channel 4. Picked up the nick name and it's stuck with me through the years.Very apt avatar given the last 32 years, especially the last 6 or 7. :grr:

Mine used to be Simon's Circus, the Sea Vixen display team. In my youth I loved the airfield attacks at the Biggin Hill airshows, the Navy always had a big part to play. And I saw Simon's Circus display once. And its my name, obvs.
