Hi all, a rare visit to an old favorite today following the posting of a NOTAM which promised "intense rotary activity!"

Arrived by train at 1130 and was greeted by the sight of a single Chinook in the circuit, and this remained so for most of the day. Launching from Charlie taxiway and conducting right hand circuits up to 3 miles North of the field.
A further Chinook and Puma could be seen within the old 111 HAS area, the Puma called up as Vortex 434? But only for a ground run for maintenance, so maybe tech?

If anyone can help with serials for the chinooks and Puma, it would be greatly appreciated. I one Chinook is ZA670 but needs confirming.

Spent most of the day reminiscing about the 'good olden days' but was still great to see some life in the old place, even if it was quiet!

Your other Chinook was ZA708 and the Puma was XW216.

The Chinook was flying cadets as part of the Air Cadet /RAF100 celebrations, they conducted a similar day at Linton earlier in the year.
