Milestone for Poseidon Facility

Post by vulcanxl425 » Fri Nov 23, 2018 12:26 pm

As reported in local press this week a milestone was reached as the main structure of the building was completed. The final beam was lowered into place on the building with representatives from Boeing ,RAF and Robertson (Builders) watching on.The facility will hold three aircraft at any given time with accommodation, crew training , workshop ,flight planning alongside.Still a great amount to be done in order to finish but reported by Builders it was "slightly ahead of schedule".
P-8's scheduled to arrive at the base in 2020.

Yes in northwest of airfield well behind where C and D Hard areas are. Still much work to be done such as aprons ,taxiways some buildings to be demolished. Major work to be started on main runway as well as northern taxiway scheduled for upgrade.

Hi to all I agree with Al the main building is more or less complete but there is still more of the roof trusses to be erected and there was 2 loads of truss frames arrived 27/11/18 under escort so I think it was a bit premature to say in the press that the main structure was complete as I feel there is a bit to do. There was a visit yesterday of VIPs I would say they visited the site as they disembarked from the Kittyhawk flight
into 3 people carriers then returned to the Bae146 got aboard and departed
