Firstly i would like to express my apprecation to the Lossie regulars for the "info" throughout the year.
Again have taken the opportunity to review the visiting a/c to Lossie during 2017 and remarkably the military visitors are exactly the same as 2016 with 318 a/c.The last departures i understand on Friday 15/12 a pair of LN F-15's being especially noteworthy. In addition we have had 50 civil visitors compared to 36 in 2016.As usual the regular Jetstreams were excluded.
Top three visiting military a/c types were
1) Hawks 52 (2016) 51
2) P-8's 35 (2016) 23
3) C-130 29 (2016) 44
Good year for MPA's
P-8 35 (2016) 23
P-3 7 (2016) 4
CP-140 6 (2016) 9
Atl 3 (2016) 6
Counting both civil and military a/c types we have had 54 (50 in 2016)
The busiest months for visitors
1) March 61
2) August 43
3) October 42
Busiest day being Friday 17/3 when the P.D.F. plus support arrived en-route to the USA
Highlights during the year possibly
Swiss Hornets for winter flying
F-16s from Aviano
Or the short visit by the Italian AF Atlantique
Sadly on 31 March we saw the disbandment of XV(R)Squadron and the end of the Tornado era at Lossiemouth
We can look forward to the start of building work for the arrival of P-8's.Suggestions are that there will be three new Hangars on northside housing for RAF, USN and Boeing (European P8 based maintenance). In addition a new Control Tower will be built.
The MOD under a Freedom of Information request confirm that there will be only one Joint Warrior in 2018 scheduled for April/May.
Just remains to wish you all a Happy New Year.
See you in 2018
Al
