No 1 (F) Squadron Arrival

Post by Ryan22 » Tue Sep 02, 2014 9:26 am

Morning folks,

I've seen some mention that the arrival of No 1 (Fighter) Squadron from Leuchars could be next Monday (08/09/14). I believe there are a couple of No 1(F) Sqn Typhoons at the base already and indeed I saw one last week doing some touch and go's with a 6 Sqn Typhoon. Does anyone know if this the planned arrival date as I was considering maybe taking a day off to see them arrive? Just wondering whether to put the deck chairs back in the shed or if I should leave them out just in case!

Thanks!

A post in the Leuchars section suggests that they won't arrive in formation though. viewtopic.php?f=75&t=103177&p=648245#p648245

Yeah I read that. Shame as it would have been quite a simple formation to do for the number one! To be fair though, I think we were spoiled a bit with the number six formation the last time round!

No formal flypast - I read that to mean no top brass on the ground and not necessarily no flypast at all.

Al - ever hopeful and a very small (or short) section of the RAF Lossiemouth Unofficial Reception Committee :D

Heard last week that the pilot flies the typhoon up to Lossie and has to take the bus back to Leuchars

Pilot could take the train if he,she, so wished...old travel pass is still issued to service personel..key word ..service..!! Long gone are the Squadron Hack day's..

Hugh.

PS ..The bus would involve.(A)..Bus to Elgin then Bus to Aberdeen ,then Bus to Dundee, then Bus to Leuchars
Or.(B)..Bus to Elgin then Bus to Inverness , then Bus to Perth , then Bus to Dundee then Bus to Leuchars.
Or. (C).. Bus to Elgin then Bus to Inverness then Bus to.....Och am fed up !!!!

Tory/Labour/Tory cutbacks are to blame!!!

Hugh.

Hopefully not  3NM radius from Burghead doesn't cover RAF Lossiemouth and the Lat/Long is another few miles west of Burghead. Timings are about right though :Wow:

Venom 22 has just done a flypast directly over the main hangars. Venom 31 is still out. 1 Sqn are coming to Lossie not Kinloss

I would imagine the callsigns, as a pair, would either be Venom 31 and 32, or Venom 21 and 22, not a combination of the two!

I can imagine you may be correct in your assumption so I will concede the fact to someone who (probably) wasn't there, (probably) didn't hear the radio transmissions, (probably) didn't see the flypast and (probably) didn't see them land.

I unconditionally concede the fact that the SBS may be wrong as we know how inaccurate these things are.
