I didnt go to Warton on Friday hence no log, The reason for the above link to IPA 6 is that yesterday
25th, John Turner, the recently retired Director of Flying at Warton, gave us one of his lectures on his
life in flying both in the RAF, Boscombe Down, and Warton. I raised the question what was the significance of the maroon coloured badge, on the tail of IPA 6 and previously on DA 4, the surprising
answer was that it was the badge of The Fylde Rugby Club. It was placed on the tail because the Typhoon Production Manager in charge of DA 4 ZH 590 was a Vice President of Fylde Rugby Union Club.

Keith Hartley his callsign was Tarnish 7 visited RAF Leuchars with DA 2 ZH 588 I cannot remember the date. When DA 2
was stabled ovenight in a H.A.S the ground crew on 43 Squadron which has The Cockerel as its emblem took the opportunity
to place the Cockerel Emblem on DA 2 fin. I think this is what happened, but I dont mind being corrected if wrong.

Just a reminder as this is the last week of certain RAF Nimrod operations which cease on the 31st
March, 2010. we may get a flyby as we did in Wednesday the 17th.March,2010 when XV 232 coded 32
flew low level down R 26 at 16.11. Somebody mentioned that ZJ 515 had been painted had left
Manchester and was at Woodford having mission equipment fitted can anybody comfirm this.

Log for 30 March:

'071' Saudi Tiffle went up just before I got there at 1ish.
29 Sqn Tiffle on apron but was towed back in.
Nimrod MR.2 was due to come at 1:30 but sadly cancelled just before :'( I believe it did go to Marham, Cottesmore and Valley but cancelled at Woodford too.
Missed Approach from Hawk T2 with Wing Pods, did not get number as was too high by the time he passed the mound, looks like he may have gone back to Valley.
Very clean XX278 Hawk T.1 took off at 14:30ish and on return did some nice T+Gs for around 10/15 minutes then finally landed.

Pictures are Here:

Cheers to Steve, Ian and the others for the Banter :D

EDIT: ZJ515 (B) is now at Woodford and will eventually come to Warton.
