!The Legend reads!, " Your message contains too few characters." I am surprised we have so many characters at EGNO.

It was gratifying to see that the Warton site on the new FC attracted 1833 views in October. There was a lot of good imput from all the correspondents.

This is a follow on from last Fridays log, on the southside of the airfield were 2 GR4s the base one ZG 773 thats the one with
GR4 on the tail and other graphics plus the Lossiemouth GR4 ZD 715 coded 83 the law of averages states that these may well fly on Monday, and as both our IPA aircraft have returned from down south, I am expecting some Typhoon activity too.

Arrived just before noon hadnt got around to plugging in the radio and whilst doing some clerical work 2 of Valleys
mark 128 Hawks landed I only got one ZK 025 both were later towed south to north and hangared.

On the 358 Flightline was Mk 1 Hawk XX 174. and the Lossie Gr4.

A long gap and then 5 minutes of ecstasy ( sounds Like my love life)

14.42.Royal Saudi Airforce Lockheed C130 Hercules coded 473 callsign S.A.F.610.landed and taxied to cargo.
(These Saudi C130s are like buses you dont see any for weeks and suddenly 3 arrive in 3 days.)

14.44.Lossie 83 in GR4 ZD 7i5 coded 83 those RB199s were glowing as he rotated from R 26 (What a noise nearly
as good as EJ 200s)

14.47 Tarnish 18 in PC 9 ZG 969.

On the northside apron were 2 Typhoons, one grey one obscured by the Nimrod, and a primer coloured one the
cockpit of which was going up and down like a fiddlers elbow I could hear the Typhoon engine but couldnt
differentiate as to which one it was, as Tarnish 7 was about to taxi ATC called up to say the Tanker had cancelled,
pure conjecture on my part was the Tanker A KC 10 a KC 135 or just a plain RAF VC 10.

You know the saying "The rain in Spain stays mainly on the plain" well a lot of it is falling on Warton instead.

First an update on Mondays Log the other Mk 128 Hawk was ZK 026 and the callsign was Stampede. I also mentioned in
the log that a Mk 1 Hawk was on 358 flightline, was this the hawk that had the birdstrike a week ago? anybody know?.

Tues 3rd, November09.

Another question Mickey S heard what sounded like Typhoon engines revving up at 10.30am this morning and as nothing came back to Warton was it a delivery flight? perhaps going to Coningsby or maybe Saudi Arabia.

Today the wind was blowing from the north west so all rotations were from R 26.

12.15pm Tarnish 9 in base GR4 ZG 773 after blasting down the runway pulled Tornado into a steep climb and rolled
inverted at the top. On is RTB requested 2 attacks on the Warton Target. On both attacks you could hear the GR4
but visibility was so poor you only gor a glimpse as he levelled out at 250 feet did a nice T & G just greased the
tarmac.

12.25pm Wizard 1 in Mk 1 Hawk XX174 and Wizard 2 in Hawk XX 185. both RTB Valley est time 20 minutes.

End of log part 1.

Tues 3rd, November, 09 Cont.

14.15pm Avro 4 in Nimrod MRA4 ZJ 516 out on a sortie still out at 16.30pm when I left.

14.51pm Tarnish 17 taxiing out in BS 58 ZK 307 the primer colour of the fuselage against
the leaden sky was amazing on this first flight of yet another Typhoon. Mark turned at Photo
Corner lined up tested each engine individually rolled a few yards plugged in the reheat had
rotated before charlie and after rotation pulled a hard left turn climbing on reheat and into the
circuit requested a flyby (granted) and dived midway between the shed and photo corner I estimate
about 200 feet and then climbed into the vertical by this time he was on dry.

On his RTB was due to attack the target but that darn PC 9 spoiled the fun anyway Tarnish 17
did a couple pf passes and on his third pulled up short and flew a half ciruit directly over our heads
the fading afternoon sunlight made for even more spectacular photographic opportunities. Over to
you Mickey, Im sure you wont let us down.

Edit. Not really an Aviation matter, but did anybody see the size of the MOON as it rose this evening
it looked HUGE from where I was watching in Lytham St Annes.

Yeah, the moon was indeed massive!

Can we confirm if there was in fact a Typhoon return/delivery to Coningsby yesterday...? 29's BJ would seem most likely judging from these logs

Cheers all :thumb:

For the info of Seeker 33 as far as I can ascertain Typhoon 49 delivered the 29 SQ Typhoon ZJ 801 coded BJ leaving EGNO
at 2.30pm on Friday the 30th October,09 the problem is we are at the 26 end and when the aircraft use 08 they are passing
high above us. Perhaps somkebody else can comfirm the delivery or was it what Mickey Stix heard at 10.30am yesterday.

Now for Wednesday log at the moment its blue sky with just a hint of precipitation.

Edit, Just too add to the confusion over Typhoon deliveries last week, one of our very knowledgable correspondents
thought that the 29 SQ Typhoon delivered on the 30.10 was BI and not BJ.

Thursday 5th, still raining, but at least I was able to watch some my old video/DVD of Craig Penrise and Chris Horning
and the Chief Italian Test Pilot practising for Farnborough 2002 in DA 2 what amazing displays and this was only a
development aircraft with RB 199s, but I digress.

Not much to report almost identical sorties from yesterday Tarnish 8 was again in IPA 5 ZJ 700 taxied and
rotated with refuelling probe extended. Today he was accompanied by Tarnish 14 in Hawk XX278 and they joined
up with Ghost 51 for the sortie I notice that on the last 2 tankings IPA 5 was without any tanks the sortie lasted barely
and when Tarnish 8 landed all the spotters and there were dozens all disappeared as I did.

Better luck tomorrow.

Log for Friday 6-11.09

The BBC Weather Forecast for today was cloudy and wet in the northwest from 8am onwards imagine my surprise when it was still dry at 9am so for a change I went to Warton early doors arriving just before 10.am.

12.08pm Tarnish 7 in BS 58 ZK 307 dry rotation landed after a T&G at 13.13pm.
after Tarnish 7 had gone on his sortie amost immediately ATC were talking to
Tarnish 5 I thought that they had made a mistake with the numbers but as it transpired
Tarnish 5 returned to the circuit in IPA 6 ZJ 938 in a fast run and break. So what time did
Tarnish 5 go out or had he been nightstopping somewhere?

12.54pm Tarnish 6 lands in IPA 6 ZJ938.

13.33pm Tarnish 9 in BS 186 Tornado GR4 loaded with stores went to Aberporth for trials
on RTB was going to do a T&G changed his mind and landed.

15.10pm Ghost 51 same crew same aircraft called up on 241.925 directed to AAR 13 for trials with
Typhoon IPA 5 ZJ 700. Tarnish 7 I/C. interesting Comms on 370.750.

For most of the afternoon ATC Nimrod/ OPS were communicating with AVRO 6 now was it ZJ 516/518
or was in ZJ 514 out of Woodford only time will tell.

AS I previously mentioned I didnt know when IPA 6 had gone or whether one of our Nimrods had gone up prior to my arrival.

Log 6.11.09 Cont There was steady rain the afternoon and by the time IPA 5 rotated the runway was very wet but it did make
for interesting conditions with the heat from the EJ 200s turning the water into steam but the best aircraft for these type of
wet conditions is undoubtedly the Harriers with their nozzles.

I left Warton at about 15.30 and I was driving towards Lytham the rain became torrential for a short time. At about 3.50pm
I saw a Tornado climbing out of Warton with its RB 199s in reheat as it climbed towards me, was it BS 186 or another Tornado,? perhaps Lev 67 can enlighten us.

In summary the first week of November has been quite memorable with a US KC 135 tanking our Typhoons a few nice Typhoon reheat rotation and last but not least rotations by Squadron Tornados. (Plus all that darn rain)

Hi Frank
At 15.50 Saudi Tonka 7503 departed. Nice long burner in the dark conditions :thumb:
7503 returned at 16.08.. Possible shake down flight?
Good to see you briefly during the great downpour :'(
I left after that ZJ700 was still with the Tanker..

ps... BS186 returned minus one of his stores after a quick visit to the range.

What a pleasant change after all that rain, today was wall to wall sunshine.

Only one item of note a new build Hawk from Brough piloted by Tarnish 9 in ZK 032
landed at Warton at 15.20pm.

Could it have been THe CAA Flight Checker Aircraft?. When you say low how low because there are certain rules in
relation to aircraft flying over populated areas.

Tuesday 10th, November. Log.

Only 2 movements of note but as they were off 08 I didnt take much notice one was BS 186 & the other a hawk which
went to Waddington.

After yesterday nice weather we had a misty low cloud sort of a day.

I didnt find out until I was going home at 15.00 that Mickey Bryan & Ken were on the Mound or I would have invited them to the Shed to see some Buccaneer DVDs obtained from The Buccaneer Aircrew Association. The
first DVD was Buccs on Ark Royal, Gib, The SAAf quite a lot of really low level stuff and last but not least footage from
Red Flag Exercises at Nellis. THe second DVD was on more UK Operations suffice it to say that the 2 DVDs feature film
that you wont see in the public domain.

One of my friends who is a Captain on 767s and who regularly flies The Airbridge from the UK to The Falklands submitted a photo of the first Typhoon Intercept in Falklands Airspace the actual intercept was of the 767 of which he
was the Captain being intercepted by the Typhoon and the photo showed the Typhoon next to the 767. What I find
unbelievable was that the photo was rejected because it had a Civilian plane in it. needless to say my friend wont be
posting on FC again.
