The bare bones of this thread was that another Saudi 747 cargo jet was due to arrive at EGNO on the 9th May, 2018. however
the mere fact that this going to happen generated a lot of interest the mound changed to a parking lot, further along the
perimeter of the airfield there were a few photographers, also a goodly number parked on the north side at Granvilles Gate.

As the ETA approached what had been a relatively dry day turned wet and this inclement weather carried on throughout the
afternoon and into the evening. My friend Neville ( The Plumber ) had the 747 on plane plotter and we saw it over Huddersfield
then Blackburn and within minutes it emerged from the gathering gloom and landed at Warton.

As on previous occasions one of Warton finest tractor drivers pushed the 747 off 25 and onto cargo to await loading.

I left for tea and to attend the previously mentioned lecture which was quite technical but with interesting films
especially one of a French Jaguar doing certain trials.

The lecture finished after about an hour and I returned to the mound after an update with ATC that the 747 would first be
reversed along runway 25 to just short of the piano keys( its still @@@@@@@@raining) after the tractor unhooks the 747
the engines are turning and the flaps are being tested I videoed the engine run for five minutes and as the battery warning
light appeared on my camera the jumbo engines went to full power and the aircraft disappeared in a cloud of spray and
rotated off runway 25 into the gathering gloom.

When I downloaded my video the orange tail light made it look as though it was on afterburner.

This is nearly as good as watching the ACL Container ships traversing from the the River Mersey into Gladstone Dock.

2 primered hawk fuselages plus associated wingsets; also crates presumably containing items like fins & tailplanes, seen being transported across airfield to cargo apron for loading.
I think they have waited for BS116 to return (Rogue 11 dep 1045L & landed back 1318L) before prepping for departure as fltno ACP4696. Engines start @ 1425L. going off 25 this time...seen on climbout just off Lytham at 1435L. Impressive sight even though non-mil !

Better luck next time... ;-)
